Designer Collaboration with Daniele from Blur the Lines

A Sculptural, Design-Led Renovation in Plywood & Porcelain

This project was a true celebration of design ambition and craftsmanship. Working alongside the visionary designer Danielle Barclay of Blur the Lines, we transformed multiple spaces in her Grey Lynn home — including the kitchen, scullery, lounge, dining area and laundry — into a cohesive sculptural environment finished with Plytech plywood, Neolith porcelain and truly matt black paint.

From the first concept, it was clear this renovation would push creative and technical boundaries. Curved forms, natural oak veneer ply handles, continuous grain flow, and mixed-material transitions required a precise, highly considered approach. Every detail demanded custom solutions — and our team at The Kitchen Factory loved every moment of bringing Danielle’s ideas to life.

Design Vision Brought to Reality

This was the first major complex project since taking ownership of The Kitchen Factory, and it perfectly captured why we do what we do:
turning bold design concepts into beautifully built spaces.

Key features of the project include:

  • Sculptural curved plywood forms across kitchen and living spaces

  • Hand-crafted natural oak veneer ply handles

  • Bespoke joinery details manufactured in-house

  • Seamless integration of appliances and functional zones

  • Cohesive material palette flowing through five connected rooms

  • Precision CNC work to achieve consistent curves and profiles

The result is a warm, modern, highly tactile home that feels both designed and lived-in — architecture you can touch.

The Process

Delivering this level of detail takes more than manufacturing — it takes design leadership. Throughout the build we:

  • Problem-solved on the fly as new opportunities and challenges arose

  • Collaborated closely with Danielle to interpret and refine every detail

  • Led our team through complex sequences of manufacturing and installation

  • Held high standards for alignment, grain matching, and curvature

  • Ensured the build quality met the creative vision without compromise

This project reminded us what great partnerships can create: spaces where design intent and craftsmanship come together seamlessly.

A Project We’re Proud Of

A huge thank you to Danielle and her family for trusting us with such a special home.
We’re proud to showcase this collaboration as a defining example of what The Kitchen Factory delivers:
